The same evidence release feeds this site and UK Facts dev. A website update is not a new review of every source.

Earlier published records are retained with their original dates. They are an archive of the evidence used, not newly rechecked statistics.

How the ward figures were built

2026 ONS official electoral ward membership and May 2026 generalised clipped boundaries. These are not police neighbourhoods or parishes.

Original Census 2021 observations. Chichester and Portsmouth use published ward values; Southampton uses sums of complete Census output-area counts through the official 2026 ONS best-fit lookup. Output areas can straddle ward boundaries; best-fit allocation is an approximation. Census privacy protection can cause small differences between totals and summed categories.

The same Census definitions, reference day and denominator rules are used. Small differences between direct ward publication and OA aggregation are possible; neither is a current population estimate.

Agent source/category/geography and calculation checks; independent analytical review remains outstanding.

not provided; electoral wards are not parishes

Single padded rectangle per authority-month, deduplicate nonblank numeric IDs within each response; retain idless rows; point-in-polygon into fixed May 2026 official ward geometry; no nearest-boundary reassignment. ASB and BTP are excluded from crime totals. The same ward boundaries apply to all displayed months. Reporting completeness is not guaranteed by API availability.

Limits and assurance

  • ReviewedAt is this bundle’s assembly and interpretation review. Every source keeps its own check date; older figures are not relabelled as newly collected.
  • The preserved public baseline contains 58 headline records and 37 collections; the official expansion contains 448 additional records and ward geometry. These include different periods, definitions and comparators, so they must not be summed as one population.
  • The new action plan contains UK Facts proposals, not council promises, approved budgets or estimated benefit claims. Costs remain unknown unless a published project figure is explicitly identified.
  • Local crime is supplied through the shared police.uk pipeline; this interpretation file does not duplicate or silently update its periods. Electoral wards and police neighbourhoods are different geographies.
  • The council’s October planning documents are evidence under examination, not adopted policy or permission to build. A project stage is separate from its measured benefits.
  • Published funding attribution for the football-facilities line remains unresolved. It is retained as unverified, not counted as a confirmed Levelling Up outcome.
  • The 28 September regional board meeting occurred, but its decision minutes were not linked when checked on 17 October. A scheduled or proposed decision is not treated as approved.
  • Source and calculation checks are agent checks. Independent analytical assurance has not been completed by this build.

Our approach follows the AQuA Book: keep a clear question, record sources and assumptions, test calculations and show uncertainty. Automated checks are not independent analytical review or certification.

The AQuA Book ↗

Council documents are checked for changes; a changed page goes into a review queue. It does not automatically become a new claim or a completed project. Source failures retain the last successful evidence and are recorded.
